What happens when the punchline is only the beginning? Stand-Up + Improv: A Comedy Mashup brings two completely different styles of comedy together for one unpredictable night of live comedy at Spitfire Comedy House in St. Petersburg, Florida. First, some of Tampa Bay’s funniest stand-up comics take the stage with tight five-minute sets packed with their best material. Then our improvisers take everything they just heard and run with it. A throwaway joke becomes a scene. A weird story becomes an entire world. A character mentioned for five seconds suddenly has a family, a job, enemies, and possibly a deeply troubling backstory. Nothing is planned, and once the improvisers take over, there’s no telling where the night will go. It’s part stand-up comedy showcase, part completely unscripted improv show, combining the sharpness of written jokes with the anything-can-happen energy of live improvisation. And because every comedian brings different material and every scene is created on the spot, no two shows are ever the same.
